Swim against the current — beat the odds. If you will not move, nothing will happen.
Ma. Menie Barong (Bachelor in Elementary Education), Jolina Claire Silawan (BEED) and Khierly Payao (Bachelor in Information Technology) — three empowered, independent, grounded and down-to-earth personality with a great aim to succeed proved such credo.
At last, they have attained the final stage of a quest for self-fulfillment wherein they’re now holding the key to open the doors of the real world outside the walls of academe.
But ahead such accomplishments were odds. There are many people living on this planet and all of them have their own views on what life means to them. There are optimists, pessimists, realists who have a view considering the events happening in their life. Fortunately, these three women belong on the first line. But due to great determination to succeed, they had to go through in and out from the two walls: the school they’re into and as call center agents of Performance 360 Global Services, which undeniably plays a very significant role on what they have achieved– a bridge not just with their financial assistance which greatly helped them pursue their educational ladder but more importantly in developing their full potentials and hone their inchoate talents even before they’ll enter the final career to choose.
“I’ve been with Performance 360 for a year and counting. It helped me not just financially specifically with my tuition fee and other family expenses but likewise with attaining new ideas and skills. To those aiming to succeed, give up on your frustration but never on your hopes. Give up thinking about your setbacks but never on your goals.Give up worrying about your past but never in your future. Because education is the anchor that holds life together through choppy waters,” Silawan inspiringly uttered.
Performance360 Global Services, is the first rural BPO company in the country situated in the coastal municipality of Cordova Cebu. It is a 150-seater call center owned by Micheal Cubos, that offers outbound lead generation, customer service, General Virtual Assistance, Telemarketing, Back Office Support, Web Development, Web Design, VOIP provider, Predictive Dialers and more others.
It has been one of Cubos goals to create IT related jobs in the rural areas rather than letting those locals leave their respective provinces to look for jobs in the metropolis. Moreover, he finds fulfillment in seeing his agents get their college degrees through the jobs he created in the rural area.
“Performance 360 is not just a company but a family as well. They considered my time, especially during practicum days. They really extend their patience whenever I’m absent and they really help me pay my tuition fees. They were there to boost me up thus help me make my dreams visible. To those students out there, strive for more. There are companies out there that would help you and understand your situation as I am right now. Just start making a progression on your own self. Don’t settle for good, go for the better and if possible, for the best,” added Barong
Truly, they just proved that poverty is not the hindrance to success and that it shouldn’t be the case for them not to dream big.
“When you are poor and you don’t have anything to pay for your education, do something about it rather than feeling self-pity. Be a doer rather than a mere onlooker. Nothing will happen in your life if you don’t do anything about it,” said Payao.
There are many people who were once poor and now shares success stories because of their sheer determination. They are now owning those tall skyscrapers out there — from rags to riches.
Performance360 Global Services graduates this year has truly inspired their fellow agents who are still undergraduates. Because they have witnessed how these three agents struggled to balance school and work.
“ Before i lost interest in continuing my studies because of the financial problem but when I learned about the stories behind Barong and Silawan, it inspired me to pursue in completing my college education,” said Eliame Patalinghug , company’s consistent top seller and an incoming third-year student.
What these agents have achieved has truly left a legacy among the working students in performance 360 Global Services because they had the right set of character which has become their best shield in a battle towards success.
“I hope your dreams take you.. to the corners of your smiles, to the highest of your hopes, to the windows of your opportunities, and to the most special places your heart has ever known. You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. and you know what you know. You are who will decide where to go. Whatever path you’ll take, and in whatever challenge you’ll face, you deserve a toss for overcoming those blocks. Once again, Congratulations!,” said Cubos.
