Framing an Icon Photowalk

University of San Jose Recoletos (USJR) Photojournalism students participated the Press Photographers of the Philippines-Cebu (PPP-Cebu) ,in partnership with GMR MEGAWIDE Cebu Airport Corporation and the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Photo Contest with a theme of “Framing an Icon: A Visual Exploration of Mactan-Cebu International Airport Terminal 2 at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport

The Press Photographers of the Philippines-Cebu (PPP-Cebu) in partnership with GMR MEGAWIDE Cebu Airport Corporation and the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, will be initiating a photo contest among photojournalism students of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJR) this coming August 24-25, 2019 at the Mactan Cebu International Airport in Lapu-Lapu City.

The photo contest will be participated by 57 students divided into eight groups. Four groups are scheduled on the 24th and the other four groups on the 25th from 4:00 a.m. up to 11:00 a.m.

The theme of the photo contest is “Framing an Icon: A Visual Exploration of Mactan-Cebu International Airport Terminal 2.”

The officers and members of the PPP-Cebu will be mentoring these aspiring photojournalists.

Twenty photographs will be picked as finalists and will become part of a  photo exhibit during the Press Freedom week celebration set this coming September 2019. During the opening day of the photo exhibit, the top three winners will be announced and  the mentor of these  three (3) winners will also receive an award. 

The objective of this event is not only to showcase the world-class International Airport Cebu has but as well as  to encourage and inspire these students to become future visual journalists through the side by side photowalk experience with  the experienced photographers and photojournalists.

This is also one of the pre-events for the upcoming National Photojournalism Congress set this November 2019 hosted by PPP- Luzon.

Beginning her career as a Photojournalist at The Freeman Newspaper/Philippine Star from 2000 to 2007, she then served as an Accounts Manager from 2007 to 2008. Driven by a passion for sports, she transitioned to a Sportswriter role at CDN and expanded into news writing for Inquirer Visayas. From 2010 to 2015, she honed her skills as a Sportswriter at Sunstar Cebu, after which she took the initiative to launch her own website-Zoominglife.com
