Moira Dela Torre is a 26-year-old singer who’s ready to make a name for herself in the local music scene.
She rose to fame for her covers of Imago’s “Sundo” and Moonstar88’s “Torete”, as well as the Himig-Handog-winning single “Titibo-tibo”.
Dela Torre’s lovely, soothing voice is also heard in popular commercial jingles that gives people a serious case of LSS including McDonald’s “Hooray for Today”, Surf’s “Pinalaki”, and Johnson & Johnson’s “Signature of Love”. She also joined the first season of The Voice of the Philippines where she became a member of Team APL.
Still riding the wave of her very successful first major show in 2018, Moira is set to capture the hearts of the Cebuanos for the Cebu leg of her “Braver Moira” concert series slated on October 25 at the Pacific Grand Ballroom, Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City with Aiza Seguerra, I Belong to the Zoo, Kurt Flick and Kim Baluzo as special guests.
This is going to be the 3rd leg of the concert following the first one in Davao and the second one at the Big Dome in Araneta. The said concert is a joint production between Wish 107.5 and Cornerstone Concerts and is going to be her second solo concert for this year.
The iconic Wish 107.5 bus held a digital press conference for Moira which made it possible for Cebuano media representatives to interview Moira herself live all the way from Caloocan City. The digicon was headed by DJ Jennie from the Wish booth in Caloocan and DJ Margo aboard the bus parked in central block IT Park, Cebu.
Carlo of WhyCebu, Jovelyn of DYRC, Rhandi of CCTN TV and DJ Ericson were the first four media representatives to asked Moira and husband Jason Marvin who accompanied her during the digicon— with some questions related to the concert. When asked about the inspiration behind “Braver” Dela Torre was quick to explain that the title of her concert has something to do with her personal experiences as a music artist and now, a wife to Jason.
“Winter is the season of letting go of our bad decisions, of standing up for the good ones and of taking risks. It’s when you’re feeling cold that you become stronger and braver to take risks and wait for something to happen or take effect. Sometimes, we think nothing is happening and our efforts seem to be in vain but it’s a process, and our faith just has to be tested and practiced.” said Dela Torre.
The bus is also currently throwing a one-of-kind musical experience held at the Garden Row (across The Walk), Ayala Malls, Central Bloc, Cebu IT Park wherein Visayan amateur singers, 16 to 45 years old, are given a chance to showcase their talent and win prizes through SING LIKE MOIRA contest.
Elimination rounds are to be expected on the following dates: September 26 and 27; October 3, 11 and 18; Sing Like Moira Finals will be on October 23.
Winners of the said contest will receive the following prizes: 1st place – 10,000php + 2 tickets; 2nd place – 7,000php + 2 tickets; 3rd place – 5,000php + 2 tickets; 4th to 10th place – 2,000php + 1 ticket. In addition, Visayan artists are also performing aboard the Wish Bus on the same dates.
Moira is about to take the big leap as she is set to release her self-titled, all-original debut album under Ivory Music which contains six of her own compositions including the carrier single “Love Me Instead” and her collaboration with Sam Milby titled “Wala Nang Kulang Pa.”
This is definitely something to watch out for from Moira!
