Can long-distance relationships bridge the love between a couple? How can a couple survive the physical separation? Is love enough?

Director Carlos Marques-Marcet attempts to answer these issues through the love story of Alexandra and Sergi. Like ordinary couples, both have their ups and downs but the greatest challenge came when Alex receives an offer for an artistic residency in Los Angeles. Now both have to contend with the distance of 10,000 kilometres between them. Can technology ignite their love for each other?

All these issues and more will be depicted in the Spanish film “Long Distance” which is the featured film in Cine Europa in SM Cebu City.

Spanish Ambassador Jorge Moragas, Rafael de Bustamante, First Counsellor, EU Delegation to the Philippines and Marissa Fernan, Vice-President, SM Holdings, led the opening of the  Cine Europa in Cebu last October 4, 2019

The European Union joins in the celebrations of 100 years of Philippine cinema as Jose Nepoumuceno made the first Filipino film “Dalagang Bukid” in 1919.

Every year, Cine Europa wants to reach out to more Filipinos so after the screenings in Cebu City, the festival goes to Bohol from 11 to 12 October 2019 in addition to Baybay, Leyte, Iloilo, and Naga. The festival opened in Manila last month.

Twelve movies about  the enduring tales of love, friendship, faith, triumph and courage are being presented this year in Cebu City by the Embassies of Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway,  Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom in cooperation with Alliance Francaise in Manila, the British Council, the Goethe-Institut, Instituto Cervantes, and the Philippine-Italian Association.

Cine Europa has earned a niche among film enthusiasts in the country because of its strong collaboration with local partners.
