The fifth annual Festival of Lights has finally illuminated the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu just in time to bring the early Christmas spirit to the shoppers with this year’s theme “Awaken the Season.”
The launching kickstarted melodiously by the UP Serenata who filled the audience’s ears with the classic Christmas songs which set up the joyful ambiance for the night.
The Deputy General Manager of Ayala Center Cebu, Jia Sadol, gave the opening remarks where she reminded the audience of the purpose of the celebrations as well as gave an overview of the exciting festivities for the season in the coming days.
“The holiday is the time for us to remember and reflect on the real meaning of Christmas which brings us to the message of faith, hope, and love,” she emphasized.
She also expressed her gratitude to the constant patronage of the shoppers and encouraged them to continue sharing their Christmas at the region’s premier lifestyle destination.
A shower of confetti erupted followed by a slow rising machine clothed in silver with a child on top who was holding a white star, giving an illusion of a silver Christmas tree after reaching a certain height. The audience applauded at the surprising yet brave feat.
The Terraces was then set on fire by the shimmery dance production by Kansugbo Dance Fusion, Knapsack Dancers and Maharlika Dancers who filled the place with their fluid and merry choreography befitting the Christmas medley. They ended their performance with colorful hand-held star lanterns which was much to the delight of the audience.
As everyone is all geared up for the launching, Sadol made her way to the central tree and placed the white star on a silver stand, officially starting the Festival of Lights.
The lights lit up then went out for a while for the audience’s suspense. It was finally followed by the enthralling and playful dancing of the lights which filled the Terraces with gleaming spectrums of colors, making the shoppers stop by and be in awe at the dazzling sight. From that moment, the shoppers can now witness the colorful Terraces every night throughout the holiday season.
As if it can’t get any better, the USC Choristers charmed the audience with their playful rendition of Cebuano and Tagalog Christmas medley followed by their soulful performance of Christmas classics, marking their powerful vocal prowess in the hearts of the audience.
