Top netters contend for crown in Dunlop Age Group Tennis Cup on Jan. 16 to 19

Several junior netters coming from the Visayas and Mindanao will be strutting their wares in the Dunlop Age Group Tennis Cup 2020, which is set to kick off on January 16 to 19,  2020 at the Citigreen Tennis Resort in Mambaling, Cebu.

The upcoming tournament is the second leg of the nationwide 40-leg series, which is sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association (Philta). The event will award 120 points to each age-group champions. 

Leading Cebu’s participants is No. 1 rated Tiffany Nocos in the girls’ Under-16 division. Chad Connor Cuizon, also one of Cebu’s top bets, will also be competing in the boys’ Under-14 class. 

“This will be a tough tournament for the Cebuano players as top-seed players from Mindanao will be coming over,” said tournament director Mario Craiz of the Philippine Junior Tennis Events Management.

Craiz added the hosting of the Dunlop Age Group nationwide 2020 series is in  bolster with Philta’s grassroots development program, which aims to identify potential players that will soon represent the country in the international tennis competitions.

The categories to be contested are the Under-8 and Under-10 (unisex), Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 (boys’ and girls’). 

The four-day event is presented by Citigreen Tennis Resort and supported by PTT Lubricants Philippines Visayas and North Mindanao region.
