The new nonstop flights between Cebu and Los Angeles are the latest major investment of flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) in building up Cebu City as the country’s new international aviation hub.

This is the route’s comeback since its previous launch in March 2016 and end in May 2017.

The said PAL service is set to depart thrice weekly starting this May 2, 2020, and will feature its largest long-range aircraft, the 370-seater Boeing 777-300ER.

Like any other world-class PAL aircraft, the Boeing 777-300ER is also equipped with cabin features and amenities for the passengers’ comfort during long-distance air travel. The aircraft offers their standard Economy and Business classes, both passenger seats imbedded with respective inflight entertainment systems, personalized video touch screens, and USB ports. The exclusive Business Class cabins feature fully-flat beds, retractable privacy dividers, an ottoman which doubles as a storage area, and in-seat power.

The 13-to14 hour direct flights offer the fastest way for the adventurous Cebu residents to visit America’s glamorous city of Los Angeles as well as for the free-spirited LA citizens to indulge in the warmth of the Queen City of the South.

The airline’s promotional efforts have been invested in connecting the Visayas and Mindanao regions to the rest of the world via Cebu with their partner airlines while making the statement of Cebu as a world-class leisure and business destination. Mactan-Cebu is also groomed to be the key gateway to the neighboring Central Visayan provinces and to the rest of the country. PAL is working hand in hand with the Department of Tourism Region VII team and concerned local governments in achieving a big win for Philippine Tourism.

Los Angeles is the sixth international destination that PAL will be serving nonstop from Cebu aside from Nagoya, Tokyo Narita, Bangkok, Osaka, and Seoul Incheon. PAL also links Cebu to Japan’s Sapporo, Miyazaki, Sendai, and Niigata through the partnership with ANA All Nippon Airways.

Aside from direct routes, PAL also promotes smooth one-stop connections in Cebu. As LA tourists and balikbayans arrive in Mactan-Cebu’s Terminal 2 every Monday, Thursday and Saturday morning at 5  AAM, they can easily transfer to PAL’s Cebu hub network of domestic flights. These departures include to Tacloban at 8:30 AM, to Puerto Princesa at 9:20 AM, to Coron (Busuanga) at 10 AM, to Iloilo at 10:35 AM, to Camiguin at 10:40 AM, and to Siargao at 11:40 AM.

PAL flight PR152 or CEBU-LAX departs from Mactan Cebu Terminal 2 every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 9 PM, arriving at the Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport at 7:30 PM on the same days.

The return flight PR153 leaves Los Angeles at 11 PM on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, touching down two days later in Cebu at 5 AM.

Aside from the Cebu-Los Angeles route, PAL passengers can look forward to three more international routes and five additional domestic destinations for this year.
