The highly anticipated 2GO Reyna Bulakna Run, a 5K all-women run, has been officially launched, aiming to attract 500 runners for the event scheduled on April 19, 2024, at the Liberty Shrine in Lapu-Lapu City.
In collaboration with the Lapu-Lapu City Government and 2Go Group Incorporated, the race aims for inclusivity by welcoming women of all ages, including transgender women and LGBTQ members.
Princess Galura, General Manager and President of Sunrise Events and Ironman PH disclosed this during a press conference on February 14, 2024, at Dusit Thani, accompanied by Blessie Cruz, Group Head/AVP for Marketing of 2GO Group, Inc., Congresswoman Cynthia Cindy Chan, and Faye Alonzo-Babar, 2GO Business Unit Head for Express and Forwarding.
Galura highlighted that, in celebration of International Women’s Month in March, the 5K run has been named the Reyna Bulakna Run, paying homage to Lapu-Lapu’s wife.
This event marks the third all-female fun run organized by Ironman Philippines, following the success of the Irongirl competitions in 2016 and 2019. The 5K route encompasses two loops within the Liberty Shrine, featuring scenic stretches along Punta EngaƱo Road, Liberty Shrine Road, Spanish Loop, Peninsula Drive, and the Mactan Newtown Boulevard.
In response to potential demand, Galura mentioned they may add 300 more slots. Registration, priced at P750, includes a race kit with an Ironman T-shirt, run bib, tiara, sponsor giveaways, and P100 food vouchers for use at the Kadaugan Food Market within the Liberty Shrine.
Cruz emphasized 2GO Group’s continued support for Ironman Philippines and events like the Reyna Bulakna Run, citing their significance in promoting not only health and wellness but also the tourism aspect.
While finisher medals will be awarded, no cash prizes are designated for the winners. Participants can register on the official website at https://registration.sunriseevents.com.ph/packages/reyna-bulakna-run.
The Reyna Bulakna Run is part of a series of events in Lapu-Lapu, including the RLC Residences Ironkids Lapu-Lapu on April 20 and the Ironman 70.3 Lapu-Lapu on April 21, 2024.
Congresswoman Chan shared that Lapu-Lapu, as the host city, has allocated P10 million for the series of events, contributing to the “Kadaugan sa Mactan” Festival, commemorating the historic battle on April 27.
