The B-Pop Acapella Challenge 2019 Top 3 Finalists namely The Arkapella, The Basics and Primiero were rigorously selected via live elimination round last July 13 2019 which was held at the SKILLS Multipurpose Hall and last November 9, they once again vied with one another during the much-awaited Grand Finals Night that took place at the SM Seaside City Skyhall last November 9 2019.
B-Pop Acapella Challenge highlighted synergy because of the need of synchronization in terms of voice, harmony and team work and these factors served as the criteria for judging and judges Alberto Cabag, Melody Hodgson, Neil Salarda, WLJ and Hardie Bigcas definitely had the hardest decision to make that night since each of the finalist group was more than eager to be B-Pop Acapella Challenge 2018 Grand Champion Vox Anima’s hopeful successor.
The finals night was spearheaded by the reigning champion Vox Anima who were warmly welcomed back on stage for their special performance. Guest performers Melody Hodgson, Jerika Teodorico, Johnel Bucog, Jerahmae Trangia and the Wonggoys graced the event with their showstopping performances.
Each finalist performed two of their final Acapella pieces and the first one to conquer the stage was The Arkapella followed by The Basics and last but not the least, Primiero.
The moment of truth finally came for the three finalists and their supporters as host, Jen Sullivan, called the B-Pop Acapella Challenge 2019 organizers to come up on stage and join the three contenders to make the final verdict.
In the end, Primiero was declared as the newest grand champion of B-Pop Acapella Challenge and the group bagged a total of P50,000 in cash, a trophy and another P50,000-worth of guesting contracts with PGB. The Basics finished 1st runner up receiving P30,000 and a trophy while The Arkapella landed on the last spot as the 2nd runner up, taking home P10,000 and a trophy.
Apart from their individual prizes, all three finalists were also given record deals for a Christmas album through Spotify, Deezer and Youtube which was released on the finals night.
Primiero is a 12-member group of aspiring Acapella singers from all over Cebu including musical directors Dennis Gregory Sugarol and Sheeny Mae Viason. The rest of the members that make up the team are Sherlyn Viason, Rocaelli Flores, Engel Pila, Crisjune Repompo, Genesis Rojo, Hidle Lyn Resureccion, Mark Jason Cubillas, Morillo Perez III, Julier Montellano and Stella Marriz Pinote.
According to them, upon hearing about B-pop A Capella challenge they immediately desired to join the competition because it was a new venture for them as they come from various musical backgrounds in Cebu. They wanted to fuse the skill that each of their member has and altogether take it to a different level of musical experience as one united group.
Having been hailed as B-Pop Acapella Challenge 2019 latest Grand Champion, Primiero is more than willing to embark on a new journey and expand their career in the local music industry, as they all move forward to a brighter and more promising future ahead of them. “Of course there’s always room to grow and improve. We want to develop ourselves even more, and if opportunities arise at the national and international levels, we will be ready.” They stated.
This year’s B-Pop Acapella Challenge was able to raise a total of P600,000 from the tickets that were sold at P500 each, which surpassed last year’s P500,000. This amount will benefit PSEFI-SKILLS Foundation and help scholars study at skills without cost.
