Belcris Foods, Inc.: From B2B to Consumer Market, Cebu’s Homegrown Frozen Meat Brand Expands Reach

Belcris Foods, Inc., a trusted name in Cebu’s frozen meat industry, recently welcomed Mactan Island-based bloggers, content creators, and online media to their facility for an in-depth orientation on the company’s heritage, products, and future plans. Known for providing quality frozen meats for over two decades, the homegrown brand is now set to reach consumers directly after years of focusing exclusively on business-to-business (B2B) distribution through partner suppliers.

“We’ve primarily been known in the industry through our partnerships with hotels, resorts, and restaurants,” shared Ina Archival Dela Cerna, Belcris’ marketing manager, during the plant tour. “But with the shift in consumer habits following the pandemic, we’re excited to offer our products directly to households across Cebu and nearby regions.”

A LEGACY BUILT ON QUALITY AND TRUST

Belcris Foods was founded in 1997 by Antonio and Miking Dy, starting as a small family business operated from their residence with only three employees producing the first products: Taiwanese sausage, Ba-hoo, and Pork Tapa. In 2002, the couple’s third child, Christine Un, took over as general manager and gradually expanded Belcris’ operations. The brand quickly became a preferred supplier, with Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa as its first major client for bacon.

Today, Belcris has grown into a household name across Cebu and beyond, known for its premium processed meats like bacon, tocino, ham, and corned beef—all produced with an emphasis on quality, taste, and food safety. Belcris has solidified its reputation not only in hospitality but also in homes throughout the region, offering affordable, high-quality breakfast staples.

PIONEERING FOOD SAFETY WITH A NEW MANUFACTURING FACILITY

As part of its consumer-focused expansion, Belcris Foods, Inc. has established a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Mandaue City. This facility is designed to elevate the company’s food safety standards as it prepares to integrate the ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System. Currently, Belcris holds the ISO 9001:2015 certification for Quality Management, ensuring that every product upholds the highest standards of safety and quality.

“With our new plant, we are dedicated to safeguarding the trust our customers place in us by working towards ISO 22000 certification. This step aligns with our mission to provide premium yet affordable products that families can enjoy with confidence,” said Dela Cerna.

As Belcris Foods, Inc. begins its journey into the consumer market, Cebuano families can look forward to enjoying high-quality, locally made meat products conveniently available across various retail channels.
