Talisay Luigi Triathlon Group-Go For Gold (TLTG-GFG) Moira Frances Gabrielle Erediano and Matthew Justine Hermosa captured the girls’ and boys’ 13 to14 old titles in the Alaska Fortified Ironkids at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City.
The fourteen-year-old Erediano of the Sacred Heart-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) ended her Ironkids experience with a fifth title since she started in 2014.
Erediano completed the 400-meter swim, 12-kilometer bike and 4km run race in 39 minutes and 22.01, outshining Jeanna Mariel Canete (40:38.71) and Kelly Yw Long (43:24.46).
“I did my best today, it was a tough race. I was happy with my overall performance. I had to catch up since I was behind after the swim,” said Erediano.
Erediano was confident coming into the race.
“I feel grateful of the win. Nakulbaan ko na di ko ma first because I was intimidated when they said that I will be competing against tough rivals,” said Hermosa.
Hermosa, a Grade 8 student of Paref Springdale School, was also struggling in the swim leg but managed to take the lead in the run leg. He secured the top spot in the 13 to14 category with a time of 35:08.33. His teammate Earol Belonguil (35:43.04) and Eryk John Omandam (36:02.78) finished second and third, respectively.
The other winners were Van Wincy Pagnanawon with 25:49.97 and Eleora Caelle Avanzado 29:01.55 in the boys’ and girls’ 9 to 10 class.
In the mixed team 6 to10 age group, team ROAS Tri team (20:33.34) emerged the top winner followed by team SHS-TRI TEAM (21:49.46) for the second and team Griffins (22:12.66) for third. While in the mixed team 11 to 14 Team TLTG-GO FOR GOLD teams took all the three top spot./
