Golden Prince Housekeeping Ballers Won the 6th Golden League of Ballers Championship Title
THE housekeeping ballers did it.
The housekeeping beat the combined force of the front office and security squad, 84-75 in a nerve-wracking championship game of the 6th Golden League of Ballers at the University of San Carlos North Campus Gym.
During the finals, housekeeping was down by six points in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter. When housekeeping’s team captain Romy Narvasa, who was named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP), saw his team looking exhausted, he then asked for their final time-out and talked with his team, motivated them to never give up and to keep up the fight until the end.
The quick peep talk seems to be effective as it surprised everyone when they returned to the court with too much energy. Their starting point guard drove towards the half-court and dribbled away from different defenders. Just outside the 3-point line, he pumps up a fake shot and noticed one of his defenders was in the air ready to block him. He leaned towards his opponent and “tossed a prayer”. A foul was called but a three-point shot goes in.
The crowd goes crazy. After making a free throw, the housekeeping team continued to have momentum as the crowd’s cheers helped them regain confidence. They became the eventual champions of this year’s: Golden League of Ballers,” said Mr. Aaron Que, Executive Vice President of Golden Prince Hotel and Suites, and the overall league commissioner and founder.
He added that the Golden Prince Hotel and Suites has been running this Basketball League for more than five years now. They wanted the different departments of the hotel to bond through these games. It creates an exciting atmosphere full of camaraderie especially if your colleagues come to the games to cheer.
Back in 2014, we organized 1 friendly game between the Golden Prince Hotel and the Golden Valley Hotel. We were encouraged by the turnout. So, each year, we witnessed more and more participation among our staff. We even include on-the-job trainees into the rosters. As more players joined, the league continues to grow each year.
