Lapu-Lapu’s Alaskamazing Ginang: A Mother with Fervor

 Fifteen mothers recently proved life doesn’t end at the corners of their house.

 Joceth Rollon Japitan, a 23-year old mother of three, a fervor one in her every piece, bagged the crown for the ‘Search for Ginang Alaska Lapu-Lapu 2016’ held at Pusok Gym as part of Alaska’s 14th-year celebration of honoring mother’s love and service.

With a seafarer husband working away from the family, she proved that raising alone her three kids age ranges from 1 to 4 years old has never been a hindrance to play her role as a mom and at the same time as a businesswoman.

“The greatest achievement of a woman is to become a mother and the best ingredient that I have as I made my walk in front of the crowd is my love, passion, and dedication for cooking. It’s the only thing that boost my confidence,”  Japitan uttered.

 Japitan, as Alaska’s one greatest aims, addressed the issue that health is the greatest of all possessions; it is which the real wealth a family could have thus a no need for several hours wiping sweat in the kitchen just to prepare delicious and nutritious food for the family.

The 1st runner up honors went to Analou Reyes while the 2nd runner-up title was won  by Salome Alarcon.

“I really didn’t expect to win, as you can see, I didn’t win any minor awards. I was really shocked when they called my name,” said Japitan.

The search for the Ginang Alaska: Alaskamazing Mom was held in 30 locations covering the biggest cities in the country. To name a few, such as Cagayan De Oro, Davao, Bacolod, Cebu, Dumaguete, Legaspi, Iligan and Baguio.

It’s a community-based competition that honors every mother’s day-to-day dedication serving their families.

Also, to recognize and give praise to all the struggles, the hard work, and personal triumphs of Filipino moms; while keeping their commitment ensuring that every home is nurtured with love and nourishment.

 

img_0645Indeed, the event was successfully realized with a bang! A free thirty-minute Zumba Dance opened the said event participated with the graceful waves from the Alaskamazing moms.


The happening just manifested that they have a lot more to do than just look beautiful. It isn’t about walking the ramp in the skimpiest of clothes and sporting a million-dollar smile. It’s about cracking the tough round of proving to the mass that mothers got more than what it takes!

Beginning her career as a Photojournalist at The Freeman Newspaper/Philippine Star from 2000 to 2007, she then served as an Accounts Manager from 2007 to 2008. Driven by a passion for sports, she transitioned to a Sportswriter role at CDN and expanded into news writing for Inquirer Visayas. From 2010 to 2015, she honed her skills as a Sportswriter at Sunstar Cebu, after which she took the initiative to launch her own website-Zoominglife.com
