To augment the monitoring of the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine and contain the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), the Municipality of Liloan in partnership with Mataverse Inc., Launched the Liloan UAV Patrol Augmentation Division (LUPAD) on Monday, April 27, 2020.
The LUPAD project will use Drones equipped with 360-degree cameras, state-of-the-art technology, which will allow the municipality of Liloan crackdown ECQ violators.
The idea was coined after a technology-driven company, Mataverse Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ryan Tan Yu noticed that the authorities are having a hard time enforcing the ECQ due to limitation of transport, allowing violators to flock outside their homes and away from the sight of the law enforcers.
“It is a problem not only in Liloan but in the whole country,” said Tan Yu.
Tan Yu presented the proposal to Mayor Maria Esperanza Christina Garcia Frasco who was appreciative of the idea, as this is aligned with Lilioan’s vision becoming a Smart town.
“Our vision has always been to bring more innovation to the Philippines. We are lucky in Liloan, to have leaders who have a similar vision as ours to maximize innovation in technology,” said Tan Yu.
The Lupad project will monitor all the 14 barangays of the Municipality of Liloan with close coordination with the local Philippine National Police and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Team.
