The 2nd Cebu Maritime Expo and Boat Show 2024 begins today at the Sky Hall SMX in SM Seaside City, situated along South Road Properties in Cebu City. Running until April 20, the event is themed “Cebu Maritime Expo 2024: From Tourism, Promoting Safety To Innovations: The Philippine Maritime Landscape.”
Organized by Full-Force MarketStrat Gateway (FMG) in partnership with the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers (SONAME) and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), this three-day event is co-presented by the Dynamic Group. This group includes Dynacast Shipbuilding & Repairs Inc., Dynamic Castings, Dynamic Power, and DM8 Composites.
The event will open this morning at 10:00 o’clock with more than 40 exhibitors from both local and international origins showcasing cutting-edge maritime technologies, services, and products. Additionally, a job fair hosted by some exhibitors is taking place concurrently.
It will commence with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Undersecretary Elmer Francisco Sarmiento of the Department of Transportation-Maritime, who will also serve as the keynote speaker. Joining him will be other distinguished guests including Marina Administrator Sonia B. Malaluan, Marina 7 RD Annabelle P. Lagas, and Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama, represented by his son, Atty. Mikel. Also in attendance will be Cebu City Vice Mayor Raymond Alvin N. Garcia, Jocelyn Pesquera, chairperson of the Cebu City Tourism Commission, USEC Shahlimar Hofer Tamano from the Department of Tourism, CG Commo Christopher M. Meniado of the Coast Guard District Central Visayas, Francisco Comendador III, general manager of the Cebu Port Authority, Bureau of Customs District Collector Romeo Allan R. Rosales, and Assessment Division Chief Atty. Kenneth Kernn A. Sesante.
This afternoon, the boat show exhibition at the Plaza sa Katawhan is set to open, featuring a diverse array of vessels and the Layag Beautification Display Competition by Sama-Dilaut Local Fishermen. The winners of this competition will be announced during the awarding ceremony on April 20.
